Reflection
During a time of war, I believe it is wrong for citizens to be forced to give up civil liberties during a time of war. By doing this, the government violates the first amendment; freedom of speech. The government would not allow the citizens to talk bad about the government and their decisions for the war. However, I do believe that the government should have to enforce loyalty. This should be done because, if the citizens of the US traded weapons with such countries as Germany, they would be supporting the Germans cause. Because of this, I do believe that the government should have to enforce loyalty.

I agree, the country should not give up Civil Liberties because we were founded on them. The U.S. should promote loyalty. If the citizens are not behind the war then what is the point?
ReplyDeleteHi David, this is Cam Hall. I am commenting on your reflection. Personally, I completely agree with you that people in the U.S. should not be denied their cicil liberties during wartime. The reasons that you gave I completely understand very well. However, I disagree with you on the fact of having to enforce loyalty. The reasons that you gave I understand 100%, but I feel as though citizens of the U.S. greatly respect their country and stand proud to be Americans without hesitation. Overall and finally, you did very well on your response and put good thought into it.
